Production Notes — Recording Job Details
Attach categorized production notes to any job — ink recipes, press settings, burn times, and more.
What are production notes?
Production notes are categorized text entries attached to a job. Instead of scribbling ink ratios on a sticky note or texting press settings to a coworker, your crew records everything in the job record where it is searchable, permanent, and available to anyone who works on the next run.
The 7 note categories
Each note is tagged with one of seven categories so you can quickly find the information you need: • General — any notes that do not fit the other categories • Color Match — color reference info for matching on future runs (Pantone codes, swatch comparisons, customer feedback on color) • Ink Mix — ink mixing ratios and recipes (e.g., '3 parts 100 White + 1 part 032 Process Yellow') • Press Settings — squeegee pressure, speed, off-contact distance, stroke count • Burn Settings — exposure times, mesh count, emulsion type • Issue — problems encountered during production (misprints, registration issues, ink adhesion failures) • Tip — helpful tips for next time this job or similar jobs run
How to add a note
Open the job and go to the Production Notes section. Tap Add Note, select a category from the dropdown, and type your note. Hit save. The note is timestamped and tagged with your name so the team knows who recorded it and when.
- 1Open the job (search, scan QR, or find it in the queue)
- 2Scroll to the Production Notes section
- 3Tap Add Note
- 4Select a category (Ink Mix, Press Settings, etc.)
- 5Type the details and save
Production crew can add notes from their phone after scanning the work order QR code — no need to walk back to a computer.
Use case: Ink Mix recipes
Your ink mixer dials in a custom color for a job. Instead of writing the ratio on the lid of the bucket (where it gets lost), they open the job on their phone, add an Ink Mix note: '3 parts Rutland NPT White + 1 part IC 7503 Bright Red + dash of curable reducer.' When the reorder comes in, anyone in the shop can pull up the exact recipe.
Use case: Press Settings for tricky jobs
Some jobs are finicky — certain garments need specific off-contact, slower speed, or lighter squeegee pressure. A Press Settings note captures exactly what worked: 'Off-contact 1/16", speed 6, medium pressure, 2 strokes, flash between colors.' Next time the job runs, the press operator has a cheat sheet instead of a guessing game.
Use case: Burn Settings
Different mesh counts and emulsion types require different exposure times. A Burn Settings note records what worked: '305 mesh, Chromaline UDC-HV, 90 seconds at 21 inches.' This saves time in the screen room and reduces wasted screens from bad burns.
Use case: Issues and Tips
If something went wrong during production, an Issue note documents it: 'Ink bled on the pocket area — garment was too damp from pre-treat.' If someone discovers a trick that helps, a Tip note saves it: 'Run this design at 45-degree angle on the platen to clear the zipper.' These notes turn individual experience into shared shop knowledge.
