Printed Samples — Documenting Finished Work
Capture photos of completed prints and attach them to jobs for future reference and color matching.
What are printed samples?
Printed samples are photos of completed printed items that are attached directly to a job record. When a customer reorders six months later and says 'match the last run exactly,' you pull up the job and see exactly what came off the press. No guessing, no digging through old photos on someone's phone.
Step 1 — Scan the QR code on the work order
Every work order printed from Kontrol™ includes a QR code. Your press operator or quality inspector scans it with their phone camera. The QR code opens the job page directly in the browser — no login required for production crew with Employee access.
- 1Print the work order for the job (it includes a QR code automatically)
- 2Open your phone camera and point it at the QR code
- 3Tap the link that appears to open the job page
Works with any phone camera — no special app needed. iPhone, Android, whatever your crew uses.
Step 2 — Take photos of the finished prints
On the job page, tap the Printed Samples section and hit the camera button. Your phone opens the camera for a quick snap. Take photos of the print from different angles — front view, close-up of detail, color swatch against a neutral background. Each photo is uploaded immediately and attached to the job.
- 1Tap the Printed Samples section on the job page
- 2Tap the camera button to capture a new photo
- 3Take the photo — it uploads automatically
- 4Add more photos if needed (close-ups, different angles)
Step 3 — Review and use samples later
All sample photos are permanently stored with the job. When a repeat order comes in, open the original job and check the Printed Samples section. You will see exactly what the finished product looked like — colors, placement, print quality. This is especially valuable for color matching, where even small differences are noticeable to the customer.
Color matching use case
Screen printers know that matching colors across runs is one of the hardest parts of the job. Ink batches vary, mesh counts change, and what looked great in November might print differently in June. By capturing printed samples on every job, you build a visual library of exactly what each color looked like on the actual garment. Pair this with Production Notes (ink mix ratios, press settings) and you have everything you need to nail the reprint.
