Setting Up Your Pricing Matrix in Kalkulator™
Configure quantity breaks, color tiers, and setup fees so every quote is accurate.
What is the pricing matrix?
The pricing matrix is a grid of prices organized by quantity tier and number of ink colors. When you enter a quote in Kalkulator™, it looks up the right cell in your matrix and calculates the per-piece price automatically. No mental math, no 'let me get back to you' — you give the customer a price on the spot.
Step 1 — Open the pricing matrix editor
In Kalkulator™, go to Settings > Pricing Matrix. You will see a grid with quantity tiers as rows and color counts as columns. The default matrix includes common tiers (24, 48, 72, 144, 288, 500, 1000) and color counts (1 through 6+).
- 1Open Kalkulator™ > Settings > Pricing Matrix
- 2Review the default tiers and color columns
- 3Tap any cell to edit the per-impression price
- 4Add or remove quantity tiers using the + and - buttons
Step 2 — Set your per-impression prices
Tap any cell in the grid to enter your price. This is the price per impression — one print on one garment at one location. For example, if you charge $3.50 per shirt for a 1-color front print at 144 pieces, enter 3.50 in the row for 144 and the column for 1 color. Work through each cell systematically — start with your most common order sizes.
If you are unsure about pricing, start with industry averages: $5-8 per piece for small runs (24-48), $2-4 for mid runs (144-288), $1-2 for large runs (500+). Adjust as you learn your real costs.
Step 3 — Configure setup and screen fees
Below the matrix grid, you will find fields for flat fees that apply to every quote: screen setup fee (per screen), art setup fee (flat), flash cure surcharge, and rush multiplier. These fees are added on top of the per-impression price when building a quote.
Importing from Kontrol™
If you already have a pricing matrix configured in Kontrol™, you do not need to recreate it manually. Go to Settings > Kontrol™ Sync > Pull Pricing Matrix. Your entire matrix, including all tiers, color breaks, and fee structures, downloads in one tap.
Changes you make in Kalkulator™ do not automatically push back to Kontrol™. If you want to update your main matrix, make the change in Kontrol™ and re-pull.
Using the setup wizard
If you are starting from scratch, the Setup Wizard walks you through building a matrix step by step. It asks you a series of questions about your shop size, typical order volumes, and ink types, then generates a recommended matrix you can fine-tune. Access it from Settings > Pricing Matrix > Setup Wizard.
