How Employee Onboarding Works

What is onboarding?
When you invite a new team member, they enter a mandatory 6-step onboarding flow. They cannot access the main dashboard until every step is complete. This ensures every new hire reads policies, completes training, and passes a knowledge check before touching production data.
The 6 onboarding steps
- 1Welcome video — a short intro to your shop and how Kontrol™ fits in.
- 2Company policies — the new hire reads and acknowledges your shop's policies.
- 3Role-specific training — assigned training modules based on their role (press operator, admin, sales, etc.).
- 4Knowledge quiz — a short quiz to confirm they absorbed the training material.
- 5Equipment & access setup — confirm workstation, login credentials, and tool access.
- 6Final review — the admin reviews completion and approves the new hire.
Tracking progress
Open Team → Onboarding in the sidebar to see every new hire's progress in real time. Each step shows a completion timestamp and time spent. You'll get a notification when a new hire finishes all 6 steps.
