Start here: what belongs in Vinyl & HTV

Welcome to the Vinyl & HTV board — heat-transfer vinyl, cut files, weeding, layering, and everything that comes off a cutter and onto a garment. Great entry point into decoration, and there's real craft to doing it clean.

Starter pointers:

• Cut settings are per-material. Blade depth, force, and speed change with every vinyl type and even between rolls. Test-cut a small square and weed it before you commit the whole design.
• Mirror before you cut. HTV is cut on the carrier and applied face-down, so the design must be mirrored. Forgetting this is the classic first mistake (we've all done it).
• Temp, time, and pressure per vinyl. Follow the manufacturer's spec — a lot of "it peeled" is really "under-pressed." Firm, even pressure for the full dwell.
• Layer smart. When stacking colors, use the manufacturer's layering rules and knock out overlaps so you're not stacking thick, stiff vinyl that cracks.

How to ask a good question: tell us the vinyl brand/type, the fabric, your cutter, and your press time/temp/pressure. If it's a lifting or cracking issue, a close-up photo after a wash test says it all — attach it on the thread so we can spot the culprit.
