This is the Kontraktr Tips board — field-tested tips and short guides from the team that builds Kontrol OS, written for working shops. Think of it as the stuff we wish someone had told us before we learned it the hard way.
What you'll find here:
- Money tips. Where shops quietly lose margin (under-quoting darks, absorbing rush costs, re-burning screens for repeat jobs) and how to plug the leak.
- Time tips. The small routines — batching film output, a 15-minute end-of-day pass, a pre-flight checklist before press — that give you back hours every week.
- Workflow tips. Naming files so you can find them, scheduling by press fit, and the automated emails that stop the "where's my order?" calls.
Every tip is practical and vendor-neutral where it can be — good shop habits work no matter what software you run. Where a tip ties into a Kontrol OS feature, we'll say so plainly, never as a pitch.
How to get the most out of this board: Reply on any tip thread — we read them, and the best discussions have come from a shop owner saying "here's what actually works for us." If you're suggesting a tip or pushing back on one, be specific about your setup, and if you're sharing a technique, attach a photo of the result on the thread so it lands. Pull up a chair.
